Social Secretaries Harry Myers and John Berge turned on the sunshine for the FEPS June 2007 visit
to the beautiful gardens at Wisley. As this photo shows the sunshine brought a good turnout of FEPS members, their partners and friends.
With an eye to the next generation of FEPS members the party also included children and even a babe in arms.
As can be seen from this photograph on the right the sunshine brought the gardens to life. The gardens cover a wide range of
different styles of planting, from informal, natural areas as here to more formal beds. You can easily spend a whole day wandering
around the gardens, with photo opportunities at every turn.
Less expected perhaps was the opportunity to
photograph some of the local wildlife. Society Chairman Marilyn Dennis spotted this grass snake in a part of the garden which had been left to grow wild.
In fact there were two snakes which were alternately sunbathing on the lily pads
and then slithering into the stream. She found them fascinating to watch as they remained in view for
several minutes and were not perturbed by the growing numbers of onlookers.
