Harry Myers publishes "Pictures and Premieres".

harry myers 1 October 2007 was a special night in the Society's programme. FEPS member Harry Myers delighted a full house with stories and pictures from his life as a professional photographer of the leading movie stars of the day. Harry has recently published a book, "Pictures and Premieres" which is packed full of the wonderful images he took over a long career as a professional photographer. The book has a foreword by Sir Roger Moore, which shows the high esteem in which Harry was held by the movie stars he photographed. How many of Harry's successors will be given such an honour by the celebrities of today?

Harry was commissioned by the Odeon, Leicester Square to photograph the stars arriving for Royal Film Performances. FEPS members spent a lovely evening looking back at the film stars over the years who turned out for these prestigious events including Cary Grant, Elizabeth Taylor and John Wayne. Stars of the modern era including Keira Knightly and Pierce Brosnan also featured. Naturally the Royal Family were present at the premieres and the book includes lots of pictures of stars being presented to members of the family. You will have to buy the book though to learn more about the incident when Harry ended up under the skirt of Princess Margaret!

FEPS members at book launch Mention of Pierce Brosnan and Sir Roger Moore is indicative of the fact that Harry has been present at the premieres of all the James Bond films and a special chapter in his book is devoted to Harry's involvement in these prestigious occasions.

There was no more fitting place for Harry to launch his book than the Odeon, Leicester Square, the place where he had photographed the stars over so many years. Harry was kind enough to invite a group of FEPS members to join the the celebrations. The group had a small taste of what it is like to mix in the celebrity world. Sipping champagne we rubbed shoulders with the many celebrities who came along to give their support to Harry.

Harry himself was rightly given the celebrity treatment as he was interviewed by radio and television stations as well as print journalists. We wish Harry well with the book and many thanks to him for a very special club evening reminiscing about the great days of cinema.
